Heart Health: The #1 killer in America is not guns, or car accidents, or even cancer. It is heart disease. Certified Basic Life Support (CPR/AED) instructor and Registered Nurse Malcolm Davis will provide information in an informal setting to inform people about just what they are doing everyday that could be causing increased danger of heart disease and stroke. Mr. Davis will also demonstrate basic life saving methods.

Have you shared a glass of water with a zebra today? Maybe! We use the same water over and over again. Kay Bullard of the Cumberland Soil and Water Conservation District tells readers in grades 1-5 about the importance of water as a natural resource. She’ll be talking about the water cycle and things kids can do to conserve water and help keep water clean for all living things. Registration is required by calling 424-4008.

Everyone knows about all the great summertime programs we have for children, but you may not have heard that we have a Summer Reading Club program for adults as well. Come in to your local library branch and pick up your reading log today. All you have to do is read five books by July 31st and you can get a brand new booklight (one per customer, while supplies last). Each completed log also goes into a prize drawing for a chance to win a gift certificate to a local bookseller.
